One command... and HarnessUp starts measuring!
No login, no email, no password and no admin prompt. Install it and HarnessUp hooks into Claude Code and Codex with the official hooks, and Deep Scan starts showing where your context went. The measurement layer is free forever.

Six paths, the same HarnessUp.
All six install the same suite and land on the same panel. Only the door changes: terminal, signed script, double-click installer or a prompt for your agent.

Package managers don't update themselves: when a new version ships, the panel shows the update command for you to run, just like with npm.
On Windows, two extra clicks.
The installer doesn't have the reputation SmartScreen expects from a new file yet, so Windows shows a blue warning. The file is the same one we publish, and the SHA-256 of each artifact is right there for you to check.

The number that shows up must match the one published at /windows-warning. Same, you can open it. Different, delete the file and write to help@harnessup.dev.

And then? Nothing to configure.
Installation ends and HarnessUp is already halfway between you and your agent. From the first second to the license, the order is this.

Hooks in on its own
Claude Code and Codex are found and hooked in through the official hooks. Works in the CLI, the desktop app and IDE extensions.

Measures what's already there
Deep Scan reads your local history and shows, conversation by conversation, where the context went. It only reads, it never changes anything.

Plug in the license
The link from your purchase email activates it right in the app. The license is floating: plug and unplug it in the panel, in the CLI or at /account.

Four programs. All in plain sight.
Nothing hidden, no cloud service. Hover over each file to see what it does on your machine.
Signed auto-update is available. On npm and package managers, the panel shows the update command for you to run.

The engine that stays on in the background. Keeps the measurements in a local database and answers the hooks with a p95 latency budget under 50 ms.
Your token stays with you.
HarnessUp runs the official claude and codex with your account and never reads, stores or passes on your token or your key. No proxy, no heavy MCP, no API interception: only the official hooks from Anthropic and OpenAI, running 100% on your machine.

Want the agent pure for a while?
HarnessUp OFF turns off everything it does for the period you choose and turns back on by itself at the end. Good for comparing results with and without the suite, without uninstalling anything.

Install questions.
Do I need an account to install?
No. No login, no email and no password. Measurement works right after the install, and the license only comes in when you want the paid modules.
Which path should I pick?
If you already have Node.js, go with npm: it's the main channel and shows no Windows warning. Without Node, use the PowerShell line on Windows or the curl line on macOS and Linux. If the terminal isn't your thing, download the .exe.
Why does Windows show a warning on the .exe?
SmartScreen warns about every file that hasn't built up reputation yet. The SHA-256 of each artifact is at /windows-warning so you can check it before opening.
Does it work on Mac and Linux?
Yes, on both. On macOS: the curl line in Terminal, brew or npm. On Linux: the curl line, snap or npm. The curl install updates itself; with package managers, the panel shows the update command.
Does it read my token or my API key?
Never. HarnessUp runs the official claude and codex with your account and does not read, store or pass on your token or key.
Does it work for people who use the API?
It works with your Claude Code or Codex account and also with API usage, in the CLI, the desktop app and IDE extensions.
How do I activate the license later?
Click the link in your purchase email and the app activates on its own. You can also plug it in from the panel, the CLI or at /account.
